A |     (ECNS) -- A minibus driver in central China’s Hubei Province brought his vehicle to an emergency stop moments before rocks and broken bamboo suddenly crashed onto the road ahead, as he heroically kept all five passengers on board safe.    Xiong Fei was driving along National Highway 318 in Changyang, Hubei Province, during persistent heavy rain when he noticed bamboo on a roadside slope swaying unusually.        Drawing on years of experience driving in mountainous areas, he suspected the slope was becoming unstable and immediately stopped the minibus.    “I saw the bamboo on the slope swaying violently and immediately sensed that a collapse might happen,” Xiong recalled. Moments after the vehicle stopped, rocks and broken bamboo tumbled down the slope, covering the road directly ahead.    After confirming the danger, Xiong instructed vehicles behind him to reverse to an open area and reported the incident to the local village committee. He then moved the minibus and its passengers to a safe location while waiting for assistance.     Local authorities later cordoned off both sides of the landslide area, while road and public security departments implemented traffic controls and cleared the debris. Machinery was deployed to remove the fallen material, and the road was later reopened.    (By Helen Mo, intern Yang Hongran)                    。    评论          发表。
